How do you measure up?

Guess what this is?  Poppy made a measuring wall for the kids!  He told me the other day that when they pass, Pix and I get to saw it in half and each have the side that our kids were measured on.  Way to go, Poppy!

Poppy the Cabinet Hanger

We bought cabinets at Builders Surplus in Smyrna, GA.  Once the paint had time to dry and the tile grout was set, Poppy got to work hanging the cabinets.

The cabinets in the old kitchen weren't really high enough to mount an over-the-stove microwave.  We definitely wanted to reuse the microwave, so we made sure to mount the new cabinets high enough to have room for large pots on the back burners of the stove.  Roo saw off-set cabinets in one of her magazines, so we decided to try it out.

Roo is thinking about advertising "Husband for Hire" if anyone is interested.

Poppy the Painter and Tile Layer

Poppy painted the new walls green to match the rest of the family room.

Then he got to work laying the new tile.

Good job, Poppy!

downstairs kitchen coming to life

I had my sheet rock guy come over this weekend to get started.  He took
out the wall between the den and the new downstairs kitchen, and then
built a new wall separating the new kitchen space and the old storage
room. Sheet rock is hung, and I hear him mudding it as I'm typing this.

Downstairs Kitchen

The downstairs family room was separated from the storage room by a
wall and a door on either end of the room. Randy, a friend and
employee of Poppy's, constructed a new wall that splits the storage
room right in half. Randy also took down most of the wall separating
the current family room and the new kitchen. This kitchen
renovation is currently under progress!
