The Beginning

Hi, friends and family!  This is Pixie.  I'm honored to be the first guest writer (and the first writer ever) on Roo and Poppy's new blog!  I'm starting this blog for Roo and Poppy so they can keep us updated on their kitchen renovation.  Let's make sure they keep posting pictures so we can see the great progress!

The Kitchen Buzz has been going on for years.  The kitchen is way too small.  When we all come home (6 adults and 4 kids) there just isn't enough room.  With the current layout, we are constantly bumping into each other because we all have to be working around the sink and stove at the same time.  Just to give you an idea, you can stand in the middle of the kitchen, touch the sink with one hand, the stove with the other, and the fridge with a foot.  It's that crammed!  The regular kitchen table seats 4 and 6 with the leaf.  However, once you put the leaf in you can't open the backdoor all the way, and you have to squeeze around everyone to get to the backside of the table.  With a small living space, there is also almost no storage.  There is one small 4-shelf pantry and a horrible corner spinning rack that has almost taken a finger off everyone in the family.

One reason The Buzz has been going on so long is that Roo and Poppy couldn't decide where they wanted to live.  These were there options: A. sell the house, move to the lake, and commute to work; B. sell the house, move into a smaller house that's easier to take care of; or C. keep the house and remodel.  The house is on about 3 acres that has to be mowed, and it has a pool that just a few years ago was hardly used.  Now that Roo and Poppy have 4 grandkids that visit frequently, they enjoy the pool and the big yard.  So Option C finally won.  They decided last fall that they were going to meet with a few contractors and finally get the ball rolling.

For Christmas, we all gave Roo and Poppy some kitchen magazines and an organization portfolio for their remodel.  We are so happy that they are finally going to have the kitchen they need and deserve.

"Here we go!"
